Don’t sink your design ideas; pull them together with an anchor item!

An anchor item is simply a starting point from which you can build the design of your room around. It can be a piece of furniture, a work of art, or even an architectural element.

What you’re keeping an eye out for is a piece that grabs your attention. Something that you look at and think to yourself… “this is the direction I want this space to go in.”

Often times, the anchor item will have the style, pattern, “personality” or color components that you want to work into your space. Below are some examples of these special pieces and how they helped define a room.

This is the Harper Intrique Accent Chair. It’s easy to be inspired by the traditional yet modern elements of this piece – which makes it a great anchor item.

The light fixtures here are a beautiful mix of industrial and modern, and set the tone for the entire room. Without them, the design would be lacking…that’s what makes these lights the anchor item.
